Ummahani is the founder and Managing Partner of the Metropolitan Law Firm. Since obtaining her qualifying certificate to practice law in Nigeria in 2003, she has served in both the public and private sector, including her appointment as the Senior Special Assistant (Technical) to the Minister of State, Federal Ministry of Commerce and Industry in 2009. In 2020, she was appointed as the Senior Financial Flows Consultant for the LINKS Programme funded by the Department for International Development (DFID) UK. Also, she sits on the Board of the Nigerian Exchange Limited, Radix Pension Managers, One17 Capital Limited and Salam Takaful Insurance Limited and is a trustee of The Metropolitan Waqf, an Islamic endowment fund she founded to promote and provide formal education in Northern Nigeria.
Mohammed is a Partner at the Firm. He is a seasoned litigator and mediator, known for his passion and creative approach to dispute resolution. He is renowned for his mastery of litigation, negotiation, drafting, legal writing and legal research skills. He has worked on various high profile political, criminal and civil litigation cases and concluded them. He has cognitive experience in several areas of practice including civil and criminal litigation, taxation law, election petitions, corporate and commercial law, labour law and fundamental human rights enforcement both at trial and appellate levels. Mohammed has represented a wide range of clients from the lower courts to the Supreme Court, across different states in Nigeria.
Chinanuekpere is a Partner and Head of Chambers. He is an expert in dispute resolution and legal drafting and has successfully acted on behalf of government agencies and private sector clients in domestic and cross-border disputes. He also specialises in regulatory compliance. Before joining The Metropolitan Law Firm, he was a key litigation associate at a top law firm in Nigeria where he garnered experience in general litigation.
